Buying a Tulip Bouquet (Tips on choosing the right tulips)
Tulips: When buying fresh cut tulips, make sure tulips are of a good size and color, although a little green tinge is alright, as tulips will continue to grow and develop after being cut. The tulip should be firm to the touch, and upright. Check the inside of the tulip for sighs of pollen. The centers of the tulips should be clean.
Please Note: In aged tulips the tips pf the tulip petals are discolored or have a transparent look. The center of the tulip flower base shows signs of pollination, and the tulip feels soft to the touch.
Tulip Arranging Tip: When arranging tulips, leave plenty of room, as tulips continue to grow and develop after being cut. Tulips also open and close and reach and move toward the light. Always set your tulip bouquet in indirect light.
TULIP BOUQUET CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
- Cut the bottom of the tulip bouquet stems diagonally under running water, using a sharp knife
WHY? This increases the surface area of the flower stem underwater, and allows the fresh tulip bouquet to draw in water instead of air
- Arrange your tulip bouquet in a vase with lukewarm water mixed with the first packet of flower food
WHY? This will help the closed tulip flower buds to start opening and help to prolong the life and beauty of your tulip bouquet
- Place your tulip bouquet in a location away from direct sunlight, electrical appliances and drafts.
WHY? Temperature is key to the lifespan of your tulip bouquet. Appliances such as televisions give off heat, causing tulip bouquet to dehydrate.
