Peruvian Lilies Paruvian Lilies

The Peruvian Lily or Alstroemeria as it is often called, is a beautifully spotted trumpet shaped flower that comes in wide range of colors. Originally native to South America, the Peruvian Lily was introduced to Europe by Swedish botanist Baron Von Alstroemeria in the late 18th century, hence the name Alstroemeria. Extremely popular, for almost any floral gift giving occasion, the Peruvian lily stands for friendship and devotion. PERUVIAN LILLIES

Arranging Peruvian Lilies: The Peruvian lily is often called the Alstroemeria, and is a spotted trumpet-shaped flower available in a range of colors. This flower originated in South America and was brought to Europe by Swedish botanist Baron Von Alstroemeria in the late 18th century. Hence the name. The flower denotes friendship and devotion and could be used along with most other flowers in different color ranges. Common Peruvian lilies are the pink Alstroemeria, the yellow Alstroemeria, and the red Alstroemeria.

Caring for Peruvian Lilies:
• When re-cutting the lily stems, remove the whitish or blanched bottom portion of the stem for best absorption.
• Removing too many leaves reduces the vase life if there are not enough flowers are not present for water absorption.
