ROSES
Description: Perhaps the most significant flowers in history,
art, and music, roses are the ultimate symbol of love. Greek and
Roman mythology associated the rose with Venus, the goddess of love.
Ancient cultures used the red rose as an auspicious symbol at weddings.
When flowers came to be exchanged between people, lovers used the
red rose to convey feelings of strong, passionate love. These bold
blooms also offer congratulations and convey beauty, courage, respect,
and the creative spirit of love.
Rose Flower Meanings:
Red rose – love, fidelity, courage, power.
Yellow rose – friendship, joy and caring, wisdom, power.
Pink rose – grace, elegance, love, sweetness, poetic romance.
Orange rose – vibrancy, energy, enthusiasm, fervent romance.
Long stemmed roses – elegance and beauty, used to celebrate
momentous occasions such as a wedding, a promotion, an engagement.
Arranging Roses:
• Remove the foliage below the water line, and remove the
outer "guard petal" on each rose. This is left on to protect
the flower during shipment.
• Remove any outer petals that may have gotten bruised during
shipping.
• Roses are heavy water drinkers. Check the water level daily
and replace with fresh water and flower food if necessary.
